Olmos
Perfect: Latino Activist and Actor Edward James Olmos Stands and
Delivers His Message of Hope to Toledo
From:
La Prensa (Latino Newspaper serving the Tri-state region
of Indiana, Ohio and Michigan); March 25, 1998 edition

Never
say never.
Could
that become a political lesson Latino actor and activist Edward
James Olmos will one day regret?
Olmos
exclusively told La Prensa he would “never” run for
elected office, and that he has absolutely no political agenda.
But
had there been an election during Olmos’s visit to Toledo
last week, it would be easily have been his for the taking.
Rarely,
if ever, has the Glass City experienced such a high-energy charisma
as that expanded by the 51 year-old multi-talented performer.
Olmos
came to Toledo ostensibly to speak at the Junior League of Toledo’s
Town Hall Lecture Series at Stranahan Theater.
Following
Wednesday’s lecture, Olmos was presented with a bronze sculpture
called the Mayan Madonna (a replica of the original stone work),
created in his honor by Emanuel Enriquez.
